Microenterprise in West Virginia:
NOT Business as Usual Video

Microenterprise is often misunderstood or dismissed, but CEO's video, Microenterprise in West Virginia: NOT Business as Usual, looks at the industry from many different perspectives, and uncovers how important the state's smallest businesses are to West Virginia's economy. "We wanted people to know just what an impact these businesses have," stated Marilyn Wrenn Harrell, planning and development manager. "A video is the best way to convey this to a large number of people.'

The video was premiered at the November 2000 Money in the Mountains conference at Jackson's Mill. On June 1, 2001 West Virginia Public Broadcasting aired the video state-wide as and introduction to its second "Legacy" series on the state's economy. Microenterprise in West Virginia: NOT Business As Usual features interviews and insights from six West Virginia entrepreneurs as well as historical perspectives and economic analysis.

According to Pam Curry, CEO executive director, the response to the video has been very encouraging. "We used the video as part of CEO's presentation at the Association of Enterprise Opportunity Conference in California this past summer, and it was very well received." NOT Business as Usual has also been recognized with a bronze Telly Award, and has also won a prestigious videographer's award.
